MODERATOR EDITS
Moderators (and admins) have the capability to edit other people's posts, as well as delete or move them.
Why they might choose to utilize this ability is up to them, but there's a couple of ground rules to cover.
1: You don't really
need a real reason to make an edit. Being offended by someone's poor grammar/spelling is reason enough.
2: You do need to colour your edit, as well as provide a reason for it in the "Reason for editing:" section.
3: No sockpuppeting. Someone saying something you don't like is not a good reason for an edit. Don't use other people's posts as puppets for your own ends.
4: Just because a post is nasty in tone is not a good reason for editing it.
5: A spoiler in a post can be tagged and labeled, if you wish.
Like so:
Original post:
"
OMG DID U HEAR???? DARF VADER IS LUKES DADDY!!!11!!"
Edited post:
"
OMG DID U HEAR????- Spoiler:
DARF VADER IS LUKES DADDY!!!11!!
(Spoiler regarding Star Wars Episode V above)"
6: If a quote pyramid goes on for too long, feel free to tidy it up a bit by deleting a few of the older ones.
7: Do
not alter the essential meaning of a post, for whatever reason.
8: If you delete something from a post, make sure to emphasise the absence.
I don't really know how to say it, so I'll show you:
Original post:
"WABT TI DOWNLOAD FREE (wonderful lady) PICTURES? CLIK HERE:
HTTP://DIRTYPICTURES.ZENCOM/Edited post:
"
(USER GIVEN FINAL WARNING FOR THIS POST. REASON: SPAM, WAREZ LINKS, LINKING TO INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT)"
In general: use a bit of common sense about it. If you'd normally delete a post outright, try excising the segment that violates the rules, instead.
I may add to this at a later date.
